Video transcript:

When an event happens to you, you make sense of the event by explaining it to yourself.
You have a specific style of explaining.
We all know that some people tend to see events that happen in a positive light where others tend to see events in a negative light.
This is known in Positive Psychology as your explanatory style.
How you see events results in a different set of emotions.
It is often useful to look back on events that happened to you to determine if your original explanation is correct.
It may be possible to adjust your explanation to a new explanation that has a more positive effect on your emotions and therefore your happiness.
There are a number of exercises in our program that give you the opportunity to explore the adjustment of your explanatory style.
The first goal being to find new meaning in events that happened in the past.
The second goal being to develop a new way of thinking so that you use the techniques that you learnt to explain future events.
The third goal is to develop new habits where you apply this new knowledge.
