An event is something that happens. Other words to use for an event are:
An incident.
An occurrence.
A happening. Here are some examples of an event: A sunrise. Having a coffee. Writing an exam. Each person experiences many different events during a typical day. Some of these events may be linked to you feeling an emotion. For example: Seeing the sunrise may be associated with you feeling awe. Drinking a coffee may result in you feeling energized. Passing a test may result in you feeling a sense of accomplishment. Events can also result in you feeling emotions that are not pleasant. For example: You write an exam and do not pass. You may feel failure. You get up early to see a sunrise and find that it is cloudy and you cannnot see the sunrise. This may result in disappointment. You order a coffee and find that you do not have enough money to pay for it. This may result in embarrassment. There is a cause and effect taking place. Something happens and you feel an emotion. The sunrise results in awe. The event is the sunrise, the effect is that you feel of awe. The coffee results in energy. The event is drinking coffee; the effect is that you feel energized. Passing the test results in accomplishment. You pass the test, you have a feeling of accomplishment. In our program, we want you to record events that happen to you that cause an emotion. We provide you a facility to write down the events that happen to you. You can link an event to an emotion. Later in the program you will come back to look at the event again. This is after you have gained new knowledge about the event and the initial attached emotion. You write the event directly on the page. You can use the speech-to-text function of your computer or phone to do this. Write the description of the event clearly, so that when you come back to look at the event again, you will have a clear understanding of what the event was.
