Doing the core value exercise. We assume that you have come to this website to learn more about happiness. We assume that you have watched the videos about values and core values. You start off by getting it clear in your mind as to what you want to achieve. Watch the video on setting goals for yourself. We assume that you have watched the video on conscious reflection and that you know what conscious reflection is. Do the goal setting exercise. You can print out the goals that you have set for yourself. You go through five rounds during the exercise. Five rounds, or five phases. In the first round, you are presented with a list of values. Read each of the descriptions carefully. You can also listen to the description by clicking on the audio button. Use your conscious reflection to think about the value. Determine whether the value is something that is true for you or not. Click on the button that best signifies your answer. Once you have finished with round one you go onto round two. You cannot go onto round two until you have finished round one. This is where you start filtering the values that you have selected into the values that you deem more important than the others. Go through the various rounds until you reach the target of five to eight core values. Once you have completed the exercise, the have the opportunity to print out your core values. You also have the option to receive confirmation messages by email so that you can continuously reflect on your core values. As with many things in life, the quality of the outcome you achieve corresponds with the quality of your input. To get the most out of the exercise, take the exercise seriously.
