The human being is a complex organism. It is made up of many parts. There are three distinct parts to your human existence. First the is the genetic component. This makes up approximately fifty percent of your being. Genetics is something you inherit from your parents and your grandparents. And also, the generations before them. Generally speaking, genetics cannot be changed. Physically you are what you are. You cannot change the length of a finger. Or your natural eye colour. You would also have inherited some emotional component. For example, getting angry easily might well have a genetic component. The second sector is that of your environment. You live in a certain country and a certain place. You live within a community. You may go to school in a certain place. You exist within a group of friends and work colleagues. You may have been brought up to have specific religious beliefs. This makes up about ten percent of your being. This is not easy to change. The third section is the learnt environment. You have learnt to act and behave in certain ways. You have specific attitudes and beliefs. You experience emotions in a certain way. You have certain knowledge learnt from parents, friends, at school and other institutions. The good news, is that you can change some of this. You can learn new attitudes. You can learn to behave in different ways. You can change your responses to events. You can learn to make different choices. Our program focusses on that that you can change. By providing you with the opportunity for new learning. And also, to challenge old beliefs and attitudes. And to put some of this new knowledge into practice.
